His letter was in response to Anne Doherty's letter to the editor, New Zealand College of Midwives Journal, Issue 21, p.4, published October 1999. This in turn was a response to Embracing the Past, Understanding the Present, Creating the Future: Feminism and Midwifery, by Deborah Davies, New Zealand College of Midwives Journal, Issue 20, pages 5-10, published April 1999.
