Midwifery issues
01/12/1992
New Zealand College of Midwives Journal
There are a number of issues for midwives to consider when looking at the events surrounding the case involving Sian Burgess which was highlighted on the 'Frontline' programme - 11 October 1992.
These are: the decision to have a hombirth under the care of a midwife and who made it; the issue of induction; artificial rupture of membranes; meconium-stained liquor; monitoring of the fetal heart; mechanism of transfer to hospital; and midwifery accountability.
